Freeman is located in the rolling farmland of Hutchinson county. As of the 2010 census, Freeman has a population of 1,306.
Freeman holds an annual event, Schmeckfest, that honors the ethnic origins of the area. The town is known for its 40-acre Prairie Arboretum, featuring trees, native grasses, walking trails and a lovely visitors' center.
