South Dakota Kayak Challenge

Enjoy some of the same stretches of the Missouri River as Lewis and Clark did, on this two day kayaking challenge. The race begins early on Saturday morning at Yankton's Riverside park, and, depending on how fast you are, ends on Saturday or Sunday in Sioux City!

We are excited to make this the premier race event in our area with all of the proceeds given to Servant Hearts Clinic. This year we are also adding age divisions and do not forget the Kids Fun run after the 5k. What a joy it was to see all of those kiddos running:)

Bike to Yoga Mondays

Outdoor yoga along the beautiful Missouri River is back on Monday nights. Help spread the word and invite your friends!
This 45-minute class will be all levels, slow flow yoga. Bring a mat or beach towel and water. We meet south of the Territorial Capitol replica in Riverside Park. Pay what you can – suggested amount $5 per person.
After School Archery Program

The After School Archery Program is perfect for the youth who wants to learn more about archery in a fun and non-competitive setting. The class is offered as a drop-in for people who may just want to try it out before registering for an entire session. No pre-registration required. All bows, arrows, and safety equipment are provided. Youth should have completed Try Archery or previously had basic instruction. Ideal for ages 8-13.
Time: 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm
Fee: $7 per class for drop-in (limit of 2 classes)
$30 for May Session

Night Rides with Ace - Meet the Ace crew on Tuesday nights and head out for a nice night ride. The route will change from week to week and starts at 6 pm.
Yankton Area Summer Band

The first Yankton Area Summer Band concert will follow at 8:00 p.m. at the Riverside Park Amphitheatre under the direction of guest conductor Kevin McLouth, Director of Instrumental Studies at Northeast Community College. Rehearsal begins at 6:30 p.m. for all volunteer musicians (high school or older) interested. The all-volunteer band will present six concerts this summer on May 30, June 6, 13, 20, 27 and July 4 and boasts an average annual membership of 70-100 musicians ranging from students to professionals from Yankton and the surrounding communities. Following the Yankton Area Summer Band Concerts, Yankton Area Arts will continue its summer concert series with four pops concerts also at Riverside Amphitheatre: Two White Squares on July 11, Mogen’s Heroes on July 18, Fiddlers of South Dakota on July 25, and the All-Star Big Band on August 1. If there is inclement weather, all band rehearsals and band/pops concerts will be held at the Summit Activities Center Theater, 1801 Summit Street. For late changes due to weather, tune to local radio stations.

We think this casual, free, weekly meeting will be a spark for our business community and I hope you'll show up to support it when you find the time. We meet at the Gathering Grounds Coffee House/Discovery Church (205 W. 3rd St.) at 9am sharp. You'll be done by 10am, and you're welcome to leave early if you have to.
