Adam Herman writes songs (and novels). He was given a guitar at 15 and has been writing ever since. With songs about love both lost and found, the bitter sweetness of time, faith and becoming a father; it's no stretch of the imagination to say that experience has shaped him as a person and a songwriter. He began his career in Southern Missouri, playing coffee shops and hole-in-the-wall bars. He then moved to Colorado with the goal of putting a band together with his friend and writing partner, Jim Campbell. There they formed James & The Devil, a progressive fiddle infused rock band that tours extensively throughout the region. This is where he really learned what it takes to be a successful musician: Focus, confidence, and dedication to your craft. After years of touring and a new baby on the way, Herman decided to go separate ways and headed to Minnesota. It was there that he found a new project called The Slamming Doors. With a sound that has been called 'stylistic roots in Southern rock, soul and the jam-band movement,' The Slamming Doors have been enjoying some success in the region and have just released a new album, The Road Beneath The Wheel, which a review in the Duluth News Tribune has called "One of the year's best." I'll always be writing songs- Herman says of his career. "Even if I don't see a dime from it. I love it, and I'm proud of what I do."
