Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of South Dakota. Infection control certification preferred; applicant must obtain certification within one year after hire. Must possess a bachelor's degree in nursing and be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of South Dakota.

This position oversees the hospital infection/exposure control program, implements appropriate Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, coordinates hospital bio-terrorism procedures with state and federal guidelines, ensures employee health requirements are met, and serves as hospital liaison with community medical facilities. This position requires a flexible work schedule to accommodate training, immunization schedules, travel, etc. Knowledge of: professional nursing theory and practices; recent developments in the field of professional nursing applicable to the area of assignment; clinical procedures; Infection Control regulations and procedures; CDC guidelines; bio-terrorism guidelines; quality improvement. Ability to: follow instructions; communicate information clearly and concisely; operate a variety of medical equipment; make reports on observations; apply general nursing techniques and practices; prepare reports, charts, and policies; implement and instruct educational programs/procedures; make presentations to large and small groups including state and/or community committees; instruct and teach nursing and direct care staff; maintain a helpful and empathetic attitude toward patients; deal tactfully with patients and staff.
