The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Practical experience of utilizing social media in a professional environment; the ability to learn and share best practices and train other staff members in the proper use of social media; excellent verbal and written communication skills. A Bachelor's degree or 3 years experience in a related field. Knowledge of: •generating, managing, coordinating, and executing engagement and communication strategies for digital media content and outreach activities to audiences using desk-top and mobile devices; •an understanding of best practices and emerging trends with in the digital/social space; •graphic design, nonlinear editing, Photoshop, audio recording, videography, and still photography; •experience with MS Office, Google Analytics, and basic understanding of Adobe and other software. Skill to: •execute effective social media messaging practices that reflect SDPB's mission, vision and values; •continuously and consistently monitor all SDPB social media sites; •partner with other SDPB departments to establish proper social media messaging and relevancy, ensuring consistent messaging across multiple social media outlets; •administer and develop social media presence, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Tumblr, etc.; •coordinate, execute and monitor audience and supporter digital engagement/feedback efforts; •monitor metrics and analyze messaging to build engagement, and prepare reports on usage to update internal staff. Ability to: •create, schedule, and post social media content that attracts attention and garners feedback; •execute strategy and maintain daily activity on appropriate social media outlets, as well as monitor all social media engagement regarding SDPB; •coordinate digital activity in line with marketing strategy and goals; •establish processes and share with staff to ensure best practices; •monitor metrics and analyze messaging to build engagement; •write clear, concise sentences, edit and proofread, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment involving many projects simultaneously; •present himself or herself in a professional manner to members of the public and have a cursory knowledge of public broadcasting; •assist with SDPB marketing activities; •gather and analyze statistical information; •work effectively with a variety of individuals in a team atmosphere; •multitask and demonstrate strong prioritization skills; •share knowledge, successfully communicate ideas, and collaborate with diverse teams.

This position with South Dakota Public Broadcasting will help develop strategy and execute all social media engagement for the organization. The position works with content producers to conduct a range of daily activities that communicates SDPB programming and outreach activities to new and existing audiences through desktop and mobile digital devices. In addition the Social Media Engagement Specialist will make contact with and respond to individuals and organizations, and share information regarding SDPB media and outreach activities; monitor SDPB and other social media sites for daily trends; design and distribute e-newsletters, monitor SDPB blogs, and other new media efforts.
