Qualifications:
Licenses and Certifications: Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: The preferred candidate will have a master's degree in psychiatric nursing, knowledge of the legal scope and standards of nursing practice, and substantial behavioral health and leadership experience. This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act. Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Successful applicant(s) will undergo an abuse and neglect screening. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.

Responsibilities:
The Department of Social Services is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Director of Nursing for the Human Services Center (HSC). The selected leader will be responsible for providing oversight over all behavioral health clinical nursing services at HSC. The Director of Nursing will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, supervising and evaluating all the nursing services provided by the facility. The Director of Nursing will work closely with the Administrator, Medical Director, Director of Clinical Services and Chief Compliance Officer to ensure excellence in the quality of patient care services. The Human Services Center is a licensed in-patient state psychiatric hospital and chemical dependency treatment facility with 304 beds which provides services for acute, psychiatric rehabilitation, geriatric, and adolescent patients. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include: monitoring and directing nursing services; developing, interpreting, and directing policies and procedures governing the nursing function; maintaining current knowledge of applicable regulations and standards; evaluating ongoing nursing practices and assessing the need for changes and performance improvement.
