Licenses and Certifications: 

Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of South Dakota.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

Knowledge of:

  • professional nursing theory and practices;
  • recent developments in the field of professional nursing applicable to the area of assignment;
  • treatment planning;
  • clinical procedures. 

Ability to:

  • keep records and charts;
  • follow oral and written instructions;
  • communicate clearly and concisely;
  • operate a variety of medical equipment;
  • make reports on observations;
  • apply general nursing techniques and practices;
  • supervise;
  • instruct or train nursing and direct care staff;
  • lift 75 lbs.;
  • maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients;
  • deal tactfully with patients and staff. 


This position coordinates the nursing care of clients in the Geriatric Program with medical staff and ancillary departments to provide quality of care. Assesses the clients’ needs and implements appropriate nursing interventions, assessments and documents accordingly. Notifies physician and other supportive medical staff of patients’ needs. Obtains physicians’ orders to ensure medical care is followed and provided to the clients according to standard of nursing practices and agency policy. Develops and monitors the client’s treatment plan to ensure appropriate care is provided to the client. Supervises staff and provides appropriate direction to staff to ensure appropriate care of patient is provided.

This position primarily works 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, including holidays, weekends and some pm hours but will vary depending on needs of facility.
