This position rotates on-call working approximately every fifth weekend and every fifth holiday. Applicants must be a Class III state certified wastewater operator, and have three years of previous laboratory experience; ability to pass Class IV certification exam in Wastewater Treatment at the completion of the time based/education based experience. Employee must maintain certification level through continuing education requirements set by State. Employees of the water/wastewater plants are required to live within fifteen miles of the legal corporate limits of the City. Individuals who live more than fifteen miles outside the city limits of Yankton, South Dakota, may make application for employment. However, if selected, you shall be required to comply with this policy within 120 days of employment.
The City of Yankton Department of Environmental Services is currently accepting applications for the position of Water Reclamation Sr. Laboratory Technician.
An employee in this position will be a member in a team that is responsible for the protection of the Missouri River through the advanced treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater.
Laboratory Duties include; oversees all laboratory operations for the optimization of plant operation and maintaining compliance under our SD Region 8 State Permit. Supervision and instruction of daily laboratory operations; testing procedures, scheduling of permit required testing and process control testing, maintaining the laboratory workspace and equipment, daily process control decisions, and laboratory data accuracy and record keeping. Oversight and compliance of the Biosolids Management Plan, and annual laboratory quality control tests, Orders new laboratory equipment and consumable supplies, and maintains inventory tracking database.
Operation duties include; preventative maintenance and repair on all plant equipment; operates and monitors plant equipment and processes; maintains databases, daily logs, record keeping information. Monitors plant performance in order to maintain EPA and State requirements; this position also operates, calibrates, maintains and repairs equipment, gauges, pumps and motors; and performs on-call duties for plant emergencies.
The starting salary for this position is Range 41, $51,603 annually, plus benefits.
