Qualifications:

Licenses and Certifications: 

Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of South Dakota.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

A bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.

Knowledge of: 

  • professional nursing theory and practices;
  • current nursing practice applicable to the area of assignment;
  • clinical procedures;
  • effective methods of supervision, planning, and management;
  • administrative techniques;
  • performance management;
  • information collecting and reporting;
  • scheduling and staffing;
  • psychiatric, chemical dependency, and medical treatment methods;
  • regulatory requirements;
  • quality assurance methods and controls.

 Ability to: 

  • supervise and educate staff;
  • apply nursing theory and practice;
  • establish quality assurance methods;
  • develop and implement policies and procedures;
  • communicate effectively;
  • establish and maintain strong alliances;
  • act decisively;
  • lead change;
  • develop successful teams.


Responsibilities:

This position directs 24-hour patient care and nursing services for psychiatric acute care treatment units and the intensive treatment unit to ensure nursing care is provided in compliance with regulations and according to accepted nursing standards.
